Last week, I told you all that I was going through withdrawal because my psychiatrist had taken away one of my medications. And I’ll get into that more in a minute.
First, let me tell you all why I’m on medication in the first place. I know some of you are new to my blog and don’t know my story yet. Or some of you knew it and then forgot.
I have severe OCD, Major Depression, General Anxiety, and mild PTSD.
Making the decision to “come out” about my mental illnesses has cost me some jobs and a few budding friendships. There’s still a LOT of stigma around mental health issues — which is why I decided to be so open about it in the first place. I wanted to show that someone with mental illnesses can still be “normal,” hard-working, and successful despite what’s going on in their head.
People sometimes hear that I’m “mentally ill” and think “OMG! She’s going to flip out and attack me!” or something else along those lines. For the record: I have never hurt anyone but myself. And I’ve been completely clean from self-harm since August 2014.
I’m mentally ill, but I’m still a good person and a good worker. Even when I was going through withdrawal last week, I still managed to meet all of my writing deadlines.
So let’s talk about the meds change for a minute… (more…)
I’m really tired and in a lot of pain today physically, but mentally and emotionally I’m happy and looking forward to having a good, productive day.
Yesterday I went to see ALL of my doctors.
My doctors are a few towns over, so it’s a two-hour drive to get there and a two-hour drive to get back. Poor Ramiro. (He drives me everywhere since I never learned to drive/get a license).
Luckily, my doctors all understand this, so they all schedule appointments with me for the same day — back-to-back — so that Ramiro and I don’t have to make too many trips/long drives.
But that means when I do go, it’s a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG day for me.
In addition to a four-hour drive (in full), I was at the doctors’ for five hours. (more…)
I was having crushing self-doubt issues this morning. I was this close to just giving up and applying for a cashiering position at a local shop. I was THAT frustrated with not making any money this month (even though I know money is coming soon) that I was willing to give up YEARS of hard work in favor of a quick/”easy” paycheck. Pretty stupid, right?
But then I remembered some things that my friends have told me…
Mohammad: “You can always find ways to make money, but you can’t always find ways to be happy. Choose happiness and money will follow.”
Ramiro: “Money comes and money goes, but doing something that has meaning to you lasts a lifetime.”
And then I spent some time looking at my bulletin board (pic above).
Whenever I feel discouraged or like giving up, I meditate in front of my bulletin board. I purposely set up reminders on there for days like today.
Since I’ve been vaping for a while now, I thought it might be fun to share some of the flavors of juice I’ve bought!
Thus far, I’ve bought 37 different flavors of juice and I’ve reviewed them all (in no particular order) below.
Most of these juices are made in California and might not be available in all areas; however, most of the manufacturers are willing to ship out of state — so ask your local vape shop to look into them if I mention a flavor you’re interested in. 🙂
Without further ado, here are my mini vape juice reviews:
This is my absolute all-time favorite. This is typically my All Day Vape (ADV). It’s a sweet strawberry wafer flavor that tastes like strawberries on the way in and sweet cookies on the way out. The flavor is just intense enough to give you a consistent yummy taste in your mouth, but mild enough that it doesn’t become overpowering or tiresome. (more…)
Since it’s so close to Halloween, I thought it’d be nice to address the whole “witch” thing about my personality. Those of you who follow me on Instagram know that I practice some light “witchcraft” in my day-to-day life, and a lot of you have assumed that I’m Wiccan. I’m not.
I’m a Christian.
Yep. I believe in one true God, and I believe Jesus is my Savior.
So why do I sometimes create magic…?
Magic = Elaborate Prayers
I started doing witchcraft after my suicide attempt in 2014. But I don’t really see it as legitimate witchcraft, so much as elaborate prayers. When I do my “magic,” I’m actually praying to God — not to multiple gods or other occult figures. (more…)
I was just given permission to “out” myself as the ghostwriter for one of the businesses I’m working for and I’m really excited to share it with you!
I’ve been writing ALL of the blog posts (from Sept. 17th onward) for Fab Fit Travel!
This place is super cool. They basically put together destination vacations that include a workout itinerary. So you can look upon amazing scenery while you get in shape!
And you might be thinking: “Lauren…aren’t you a bit out of shape to be the ‘voice’ of a fitness company?” Well, Jimmy, here are a few reasons why you’re wrong: (more…)
I’ve mentioned before how much vaping has helped to calm my anxiety, but I haven’t really made an in-depth post about vaping here before.
Yesterday, I got myself a new mod. It’s the one on the left in the picture above. It’s a hot pink iStick Pico with a Baijiada Mermaid tank (which uses Herakles Plus coils). My old mod, on the right, was also an iStick Pico but it had an original Herakles tank. My old mod was fantastic, but I love my new mod — I customized it to really suit me. Hot pink is one of my two favorite colors and the new tank is much lighter weight than my old one (and the new coils deliver even more flavor).
I’m a huge fan of vaping. I even have a vape t-shirt: (more…)
In my last post, I reviewed some products from Be a Bombshell Cosmetics.
After my review, their rep said that they were going to send me some more items, based on my comments and complaints. And, boy! Did they ever!!
In my original review, I pretty much adored everything they sent me except for their lip products. I didn’t like that their lip stuff (lipstick/lip liner/lip gloss) didn’t last. So they sent me two tubes of their “lasting” lip colors.
I also mentioned that I had applied most of my makeup with my fingers since I didn’t own any brushes… And they sent me an entire brush set!
I also mentioned that I was using Maybelline foundation for my face and that I didn’t own any primer or concealer. Well, they sent me primer, concealer, foundation, and powder!
And as kind of a one-off comment in my original review, I mentioned that I usually use shades of brown for my eyeshadows…and they sent me a nudes eyeshadow palette! (more…)
After the review I did on my new glasses, I was approached by Be a Bombshell Cosmetics to review some of their products. I was very excited to do so! They apparently specialize in bold colors for sensitive skin. And, heck! I like bold colors. And I have sensitive skin! Seemed like a perfect match! 😀
Plus, as I mentioned last time, I’ve been trying to up my makeup game lately.
It’s only been this past year or so that I’ve really started to wear makeup and so I’m still a bit of a noob. I only got my first liquid eyeliner about a week or so ago! I don’t own the fancy brushes that makeup pros have or anything like that. So this review will be coming from the point of view of someone who LOVES makeup, but isn’t really “skilled” with it yet.
Anyway, none of the links on here are affiliate links. And although they gave me a LOT of free makeup, no other money or anything exchanged hands.
Without further ado, here’s my honest review of Be a Bombshell Cosmetics: (more…)
Those of you who follow me on Instagram probably think that all I do is play PC games, vape, and collect Monster High dolls…
But I’ve actually been really busy.
My Instagram is for personal/fun updates. I tend to keep the work stuff to myself. But, since a few of you were curious, here’s what’s been going on in my work life:
I’m the Managing Editor for Be a Freelance Blogger
Be a Freelance Blogger is the leading publication for bloggers looking to go freelance. And I’m in charge of it!
I’m the gal in charge of accepting or rejecting writers’ pitches. And I’m also in charge of making accepted drafts look fabulous once they’re published on the site. I do all of the editing, formatting, choosing the accompanying images, etc. (more…)
